Summer School Beyond Globalization
Invitation & Call for Registration
We are delighted to invite you to the International Summer School “Beyond Globalization”, which will take place on 17 and 18 July 2026 at the Hotel Saracen in Isola delle Femmine, Palermo, Sicily.
The Summer School is organized by the Department Cultures and Societies, the PhD Programme in Differences, Disequalities, Participation and the Master programme in Cooperation, Development and Migrations of the Università degli Studi di Palermo.
The event will offer us the opportunity to engage critically with the limits of the globalization paradigm and to explore new conceptual tools for making sense of our contemporary condition – war regimes, emerging migration issues, environmental questions, the interconnections of global infrastructures (financial circuits, logistical networks, extractive regimes, digital platforms) – as well as the transformations of political and aesthetic landscapes.
Through keynote lectures, chaired panels, and open discussions, participants will interact with leading international scholars: Laura Bazzicalupo, Valeria Cammarata, Dipesh Chakrabarty, Dimitri D’Andrea, Rochona Majumdar, Serena Marcenò, Federica Mazzara, Sandro Mezzadra, WJT Mitchell, Brett Neilson, Michele Nicoletti, Giulia Sajeva, Martina Tazzioli, Gabriella Trovato, Salvo Vaccaro.
We welcome professors, researchers, and PhD students who wish to take part in this critical and collective reflection on what lies beyond globalization.
